Northern FC 1-3 Tyersal Sunday
A large crowd was in attendance to see local bragging rights go the way of Tyersal for the second week running as they ran out comfortable 3-1 winners in this league encounter at Laisterdyke Cricket club on Sunday.
Once again Northern started slowly and found themselves behind early on and never really recovered, despite Lee Smith equalising midway through the first half. Parity was not restored for long however as Tyersal regained the lead shortly after, and then scored a third before the half time break.
That would be the end of the scoring, but not the end of the action as Gareth Wright was called into service on numerous occasions as Tyersal looked to extend their lead. The visitors could even afford to miss a penalty as Jordan Hagyard, by far Tyersal’s best player, saw his spot kick saved by Wright as he looked to complete his hattrick. It was only a man of the match performance by the Northern FC keeper that kept the scoreline somewhat respectable.
Tyersal could perhaps count themselves fortunate to finish the match with 11 men as their captain scythed through Connor Scott as the game drew to a close, sparking angry reactions from the Northern FC touchline.
Northern take another break from league action for 2 weeks with the County Cup up next, with a visit to fellow Championship side Bradford Celtic, who will look to avenge their defeat in the Summer Cup final in August.
